What is Teaching AI?

Regular users will have spotted a few changes around the site in the last couple of days. We have made these changes so that we can do a better job at our mission of making AI lesson planning accessible to everybody.

Many of our regular users have told us how valuable the lesson planner is to them, but that they can’t pay for it at the moment. That’s ok! We want every teacher and student to benefit from the exciting benefits that AI can bring to the classroom, regardless of ability to pay. We’re proud to have users from over 70 different countries and from all career levels from trainee teacher right through to principal.

Last week, thousands of teachers around the world became aware of Teaching AI for the first time and shared it with friends and colleagues. That was incredible (please keep doing that!), but it had the side effect of increasing our traffic by a whopping 1300% in a single hour last Wednesday, Some of our new users found that their requests for resources were timing out, until we added extra server capacity to handle the demand. That doesn’t come without costs, so we created the option for users who find value in what we do to become Early Access Supporters if they want to help us meet those costs - and receive a few benefits as a thank you. We want to keep the basic lesson planner free, but we can’t do that if all the features are free for everybody!

Our increased popularity is also the reason we have made it necessary to create a free account to use Teaching AI. We need to know who is using the platform so that we can keep it safe for everybody.

Finally, we come to the name and the logo. We changed these so that the site portrays the right image: Friendly and accessible, as well as professional. We hope you like the changes: We’ve already got positive feedback from several users that the site is clearer and easier to use, and that ‘Teaching AI’ is much less difficult to share with colleagues than ‘TeachingAIssistant’, which was always a bit of a challenge to pronounce!

If you like what we are doing, please consider helping in one of the following ways:

  • If you haven’t tried Teaching AI yet, please do! You can sign up for an account totally free here.

  • If you can afford it, become an Early Access Supporter. We really can’t do it without you!

  • Tell friends and colleagues about Teaching AI. They can find us at teachingai.pro online, and sign up for free.

  • Follow us on Twitter at @teachingaipro, and retweet / like our Tweets to increase our reach.
